A little piece of a place that means a lot to me.
This artwork was created from a photograph I took at Pukemokemoke Bush Reserve, one of my favourite places to wander, slow down, reconnect with nature and gather inspiration for my work.
I wanted to capture that feeling of stepping into the bush and being surrounded by towering trees, warm light and stillness, that little feeling of being somewhere completely removed from everything else.
Hand-painted onto solid wood, using spirit-based wood dye, allowing the natural grain of the timber to become part of the landscape. Each layer was built up by hand to create the depth and warmth in the scene.
Finished with a satin lacquer for protection.
